Our world is noisier than ever, and overwhelm is often closer than we want it to be.

In this guided meditation, I help you step back from the storm of overwhelm, find your heart center, and savor good feelings instead. Find a comfortable spot, let my words wash over you, and gift yourself a  few minutes to leave the noise behind..

Hi there, my friend. It's me, Karli, your favorite Gen X dealer of positive vibes, life and wellness coach, and community builder for women in midlife and beyond. Thank you for joining me here today. Let's be honest, my friend. The world, it's feeling noisier and noisier than ever before. There's so much coming at us. Information, notifications, demands, decisions, opinions, all of it asking for a piece of our attention at the same time. It's a lot to manage. It's a lot to sort through. It's a lot to hold. If you are feeling overwhelm as a constant companion or ebbing and flowing more frequently than you'd like it to, you're not imagining this, my friend, and you're certainly not alone. I created today's meditation as a place where you can leave that behind. You don't have to pay attention to anything other than your breath and allowing my words to wash over you. Go ahead and find a comfortable position, whatever feels really good for you. You can sit. You can lie down. You can lean back, have your feet on the floor. Whatever feels best for you right now. Allow yourself to fidget, wiggle, shake it out if you need to, and just settle in to the perfect spot. And let's start with a few deep breaths in, and long exhales out at your own pace. Focus on breathing from your belly as you inhale. Maybe you hold at the top for a few moments before you exhale fully and completely. Go ahead and take one more at a slower pace. When you feel ready, my friend, allow your breath to just return to its effortless pattern. And now I ask you to notice what's running through your mind. Even when you're here intentionally tuning into the quiet and the stillness, there's noise in your mind. Allow it to dissipate after you recognize it. Send those messages, those thoughts, those feelings on their way. If it's helpful, tell those thoughts and feelings thank you, but now is not the moment where you need them to show up for you. Picture all of that overwhelm that comes at you throughout a normal day as a storm. Not in a scary way. It's something that you can witness and notice and understand that you are separate from it, and you can take one big step backwards. And another. And another. As you remove yourself, the storm is growing smaller, quieter. And it's helpful to realize that you don't have to engage. You don't have to be part of the storm. Take another big belly breath in and a long exhale out. Just notice how it feels to have that air moving through you in and out. If you'd like to, place your hands over your heart and feel how warm it is in your heart center. Feel your heart beating underneath, inside of you. It's carried you through all the storms in your life. This moment is one that matters, my friend, right here, right now, with your hands on your heart, noticing your breath come in and out. You've stepped away from that storm of overwhelm. You've noticed your heart center. Now bring up an image in your mind's eye of something that makes you feel so good. Could be a place, a person. Hold that image in your mind. Savor it. Allow those feelings to go all the way through your body. Hold on to them as long as you can. Let's seal those good feelings in with a nice big breath in, hold it at the top, and exhale all the way. Now you can start bringing your awareness back to the space you're in Feel the surface beneath you. Start to notice sounds, textures. And then when you're ready, go ahead, wiggle your fingers and toes, and allow your eyes to flutter open gently. Remember, my friend, this world is asking a lot of you. It's sending so many things your way. You don't have to be part of the storm of overwhelm. You can step back, place a hand on your heart, remember those good feelings that you savored. Thank you again for joining me here today for this guided meditation. If you haven't checked out my membership ELEVATE yet, my friend, I invite you to. It's a ready-made community of positive women in midlife and beyond, where we're all interested in self-discovery and personal growth. We're working on a different topic every month. There's a growing library that exists since the beginning of ELEVATE. We also get together once a month online via Google Meet, so it's a great way to connect with other women in the community connection spaces as well as during our live online chats each month. You can find out more about ELEVATE at the link in the show notes and transcript. And of course, I love hearing from you about any topic that comes to mind. You can reach me at karli@flipsideofmidlife.com. I look forward to meeting you here again on Wednesdays for my regular episodes that are bite-sized and applicable to your midlife and beyond, and of course, every other Sunday for my guided meditations and visualizations. Take care and be well, my friend.
