FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® with Karli Newman
Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).
Wherever you are in midlife and beyond, there’s space here to honor who you’ve been, love who you are, and be excited about who you are becoming.
This is the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® and it's a glorious place to be!
Go ahead...binge all of my episodes. xo Karli

Hi there my friend. It's me, Karli. I'm back with a guided meditation to help you return to ease when you've been pulled away from it. I love making these meditations and visualizations for you, and if you don't receive the email that partners with them, I encourage you to go to the link in the show notes and transcript and join me there. I'll show up in your inbox every Wednesday if you choose that selection, or every other Sunday if you choose that one. Well, let's get started on this guided meditation to return to ease. Go ahead and find a comfortable position in a place where you can fully relax. Whether you're seated or lying down, do a little fidgeting to get out those last little bits of tension or stress that you've been carrying and just really settle in. Allow your body to fully relax so your mind can, too. And let's start with a few nice, big breaths in with longer exhales. I'll count for you the first time and then you can do two after me. Here we go. Inhale for 4, 3, 2, 1. Exhale for 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Now, let your breath return to its natural pattern and just take another pass through your body to be sure there's no more tension. Be sure to check your eyes, your jaw, your shoulders again, maybe even your hips and your feet. And now fully relaxed here in this comfortable, cozy place, tune in to your sense of ease. What does ease mean to you? What does ease look like for you? What does it feel like? With these things in your mind, think of a place or a time where you easily fall into ease. Maybe it's this moment here. Whatever has come to your mind, seal that into your heart for the moment. And now think about what gets in the way of you feeling ease. What are the situations, the moments, the habits that pull you away from a sense of ease? Look at these moments without judgment. Look at them kindly and with self-compassion. This is to bring an awareness to you, my friend, of where ease is disrupted for you. Now as you've been thinking about these moments, these situations, these habits, perhaps some feelings of unease did come into your body and mind. Now return to that place of ease. Feel your body reset. Feel your mind reset. Allow yourself to return to ease. Picture these two places on a path- ease at one end, and the opposite at the other end of the path. What does that path in between those two points look like? This is a path that is not difficult to navigate when you choose to. Traveling from unease to ease is a matter of awareness. Life involves traveling this path back and forth. And the more you travel it, the better you know it. The easier that awareness comes, the more quickly you can travel the path back to ease. Start to tune back into your body, here where you are, in this place of ease. Just notice your breath again. Notice your body, how it feels, the weight of it on the surface you're seated or lying on. Start to notice through your senses what's around you. What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you smell, taste? And then slowly wiggle your fingers and toes. Just bring some sensation back into your body. And when you're ready, gently blink. Open your eyes. Thank you for joining me here today, my friend. I'm so grateful for you being here with me, spending this time with me and meditating about how you can return to ease. You know how to find it, my friend. I'll be back in two weeks with another guided meditation or visualization for you, and in the meantime, keep walking that path. Be well.
