FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® with Karli Newman
Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).
Wherever you are in midlife and beyond, there’s space here to honor who you’ve been, love who you are, and be excited about who you are becoming.
This is the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® and it's a glorious place to be!
Go ahead...binge all of my episodes. xo Karli

I love these three concepts, my friend. They are not complicated, and once you've formed habits around them, abundance becomes the norm. These can change how you feel about life! First is the concept of savoring. Savoring is the act of slowing down to intentionally absorb a moment. This is an opportunity to linger in abundance as you experience it. It's a way for you to seal in the feeling of abundance. Imagine yourself walking outside and you feel the sun on your face. Why not stop and savor that warm sensation? Really think about how it makes you feel in your body. Or maybe the next time you're enjoying a really good meal. This is an opportunity to savor a bite. As you take that bite, allowing all of the flavors to meld in your mouth, chewing slowly, and sinking into your memory. Can you see how savoring a moment can help you recognize and reinforce the abundance in your life? I encourage you to start today. Why not slow down and savor those small moments of abundance? The next science backed way to foster abundance is gratitude journaling. Research shows that writing down things you're grateful for boosts life satisfaction. It also makes you more optimistic and increases your sense of fulfillment. Whether you do this daily or weekly, you'll benefit. For those of you out there who are squirming at the mention of the word journaling, I know you're out there, I see you. Take a deep breath. This can be a simple practice. You don't have to write a lot. Even once a week can make a difference for you. So, pick a time and make it happen. And I will also say this, my friend, don't skip over the act of writing this down on paper. There's science behind this, too. Writing engages your brain in ways that typing cannot. It reinforces your memory and enhances your cognitive processes in ways that typing just doesn't do for you. Writing down your points of gratitude help them sink in more deeply. And the third science-backed way to foster abundance that I have for you today is to act 'as if.' Now this concept involves acting in alignment with the you who already lives abundantly. This isn't about pretending, my friend. This is choosing to behave in ways that bring about the abundance you desire. For example, if you want to create new friendships, you can act by signing up for an event or a class that puts you in a space to do that. If you want to foster abundant creativity, you can act by creating a space where you get creative and stocking it with supplies that help you do that. It can be a small corner of a room, my friend. Or maybe you want to foster more joy in your life. Here's how you can act. You can smile. You can move in ways that make you feel joyful. You can actively look for the small m oments of joy that are around you every day. You can be the joyful person walking through an environment and allowing that light and joy to emanate from you. You have someone in your life that you know or that you've encountered where the joy just is pouring out of their pores. You, my friend, can be that person. Act as if the abundance you desire is already yours. Your aligned behavior makes it so. Choose one of these three ways to foster abundance or give it a triple whammy and implement all three, my friend. These are simple. They are not complicated, but man, are they powerful. Notice the shifts that happen and experience how abundance becomes your default mode. If you felt this episode was valuable, please share it with a woman in your life. This is a community we are building, my friend, and it is positive and kind and supportive, and we are all in it together. There's room for all of us to thrive.
