Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).

When was the last time you let your adventurous spirit loose, my friend? Welcome to FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®. I'm Karli Newman, your favorite GenX dealer of positive vibes, community builder and life and wellness coach for women in midlife and beyond. Thanks for joining me here. I'm back with the third episode, in a series of five, to help you capture the feel-good, soul-lifting vibes of the summer season. The first two episodes are about playfulness and joy, and this week the focus is adventure. Not the kind that requires a passport or packed bag, my friend. I'm talking about the adventure that fits into your every day. In my July 16th email, I encouraged you to notice when you're on autopilot, and allow your curiosity to lead, even if it's as simple as hitting the aisles of a different grocery store. I want to make it easy for you to add adventure into your day without overwhelm or any brain power needed, my friend. So, I have 10 ideas for you. Simply choose the options that sound best to you or let them inspire you to figure out your own. Number one, spend 30 minutes watching the sky change at sunrise or sunset. Take photos or practice your mindfulness to be 100% present so it's sure to stick in your memory bank. Number two, listen to a genre of music you don't typically listen to. Number three, walk in an adjacent neighborhood instead of your own. Or maybe choose a neighborhood where you'd love to live. Number four, do something for the first time. No self-judgment, my friend. Just joy. Number five, switch up a daily routine. Change the order of what you normally do in the mornings or evenings, or if you can do it at a different time of day. Number six, visit a local business you've never been to. Number seven, change how you move through a grocery store, shop, or other place that you frequent. Instead of going to the left when you enter, go to the right. Rather than sitting in your usual spot, choose a seat with a different view. Number eight, read or listen to a book you wouldn't normally choose or podcast or movie. Number nine, brush your teeth or comb your hair with your non-dominant hand. How much more do you need to think about this typically mundane task when you do something as simple as switching which hand you do it with? And number 10, enter and exit your neighborhood in different ways. When you do, what do you notice that you never have before? There you are, my friend. 10 ways to release your adventurous spirit without overwhelm or needing to brainstorm ideas.
