Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).
Wherever you are in midlife and beyond, there’s space here to honor who you’ve been, love who you are, and be excited about who you are becoming.

It's space to evaluate what has transpired, if the path you're on still feels like the right one, and what you want to set your sights on moving forward.

Welcome to FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®! I'mKarli Newman, your favorite GenX dealer of positive vibes, community builder, and life and wellness coach for women in midlife and beyond. I'm so grateful to have you here.
This month always feels like a good time to check in on how I'm feeling. It's in my nature to keep going and going and going, and going and going, so if I don't plan for a pause, it's not likely to happen.
I like to spend a few weeks in the middle of the year to reflect on the beginning of it and look ahead to the end. It helps me notice where I'm spinning my wheels and where I want to make progress.
In my free Wednesday emails this month, and in each of the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® episodes that correspond to them, I take you through the process I use. I'd love for us to do this together, my friend!

I like to start this midyear process with a gentle reflection to notice how I feel about the year so far, so that's where we're going today.
First, take time to tune into your present moment. This is space for your mind to be in the here and now. You can do this sitting in a favorite spot or allow your body to help you - take a walk, hike, or bike ride. Whichever you choose, tune into each of your senses. What do you see? Hear? Smell? Taste? What do you feel on your skin or can you touch?
Being in the present moment is a neutral space from which to reflect. Start where you are in the here and the now to notice where you've been and where you wanna go.
Next, tune into what you truly need. Observe without judgment as you think about your year so far, and look ahead to the rest of it. Notice what feelings come up. What clues do you get from those feelings? How might they guide you as you step into the next half of the year?
And finally, gently begin your midyear shift. Based on what you discover, you can start to imagine where you want to end the year and what stepping stones will help you get there.
Now, this isn't a directive to get it all figured out this week, my friend. Create space for your subconscious mind to mull these things over. Sit with your thoughts and learnings more than once this week. See how the deeper layers show themselves to you - maybe when you're not even expecting them to.
