FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® with Karli Newman
Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).
Wherever you are in midlife and beyond, there’s space here to honor who you’ve been, love who you are, and be excited about who you are becoming.
This is the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® and it's a glorious place to be!
Go ahead...binge all of my episodes. xo Karli

FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®: A CREATIVE WAY TO IMAGINE YOUR YEAR
Your creativity is powerful, my friend. Now, before you say, Oh, I'm not creative, slow your roll, promise me you'll stick around for the next few minutes.
Whether you're a fan of the old-school scissors and magazine style or prefer the convenience of a digital version, vision boards are an impactful way to use your innate creativity. And yes, you do have it inside of you.
Vision boards help translate the ideas in your mind into something visual, tangible, and inspiring.

Welcome to the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®. I'm Karli Newman and I'm excited for you to join me here today. This is a community of positive, kind, and supportive women in midlife and beyond, and together we are making the most of this transformational time of life.
I want to share a few prompts to help you get clear on what to include on your vision board. But first, let's talk a bit more about creativity and how good it is for you. Specifically, as it relates to creating a vision board.
First off, it's fun! Whether you create a digital or physical vision board, the process is essentially creative play. Enjoy it!
Second, it boosts your mood and cognitive function. You're identifying what to put on the board, where to put it, and designing how it looks. You're focused and in the moment.
And third, it's a great stress reducer. You may lose track of time as you create your vision board because you're immersed in the task. You might enter a flow state where everything else fades in the background. In this state, your vision board creation is the only thing that matters.
Okay, shall we move on to those prompts? Grab your journal, notebook, or favorite app, my friend. I'll drop a time marker right here.
TIME MARKER 1:51
Here come the prompts.
- What are my top values, and how do I want to live in alignment with them in 2025?
- What is my word, phrase, theme, or image for the year?
- How do I want to feel during 2025?
- What do I want to create, experience, and accomplish this year?
- What images came to mind as I answered the previous prompts?
Once you've spent time with these prompts, it's time to create your vision board. Personally, digital vision boards are what I love to use. Canva is an amazing design tool if you're not familiar with it. You can have a free account, although the pro account does get you more options, and there are quick video tutorials for how to use it. And it is so much fun once you get started!
One thing I've learned about Canva is that it pays to use a variety of keywords in your search to find the images you like. Guess what? The writing you just did to answer the prompts above not only helps you with what to include on your vision board, it's full of your search keywords, too.
Now when your board is ready, digital or paper, make it part of your daily life. That's where the magic happens. Set it as your phone or computer wallpaper, post it on the wall in your closet, or keep it somewhere that you'll see it often.
Remember, your vision board is more than a pretty collage. It's a reminder of your why and a touchstone to help you stay intentional throughout the year.
Your vision board is a way to imagine your year and stay connected to your values, intentions, and dreams.
If you found this episode helpful, subscribe and leave a comment, I love hearing your thoughts. And hey, if you are loving your vision board, take a picture and send it over to me.
Before I wrap this episode, I want to extend an invitation to join my monthly membership called ELEVATE.
ELEVATE is exclusively for women in midlife and beyond, and is a place to connect with me and other women in this season of life. Inside ELEVATE, you'll find helpful tools like affirmations, inspiring quotes by women, prompts for writing and thinking, and ideas to get you out of your comfort zone. You can also access members-only virtual chats, exclusive conversations with my podcast guests, and community spaces where you can connect with other members.
It's hosted on a platform that is not social media. It's our own little corner of the internet that feels so good to be part of. ELEVATE is valued at $75 a month, but I want it to be accessible, so I only charge you $25 a month. Of course, you can cancel at any time if you find it's not a fit for any reason.
You can learn more at the link in the show notes or transcript. And if you're curious about ELEVATE, please, I want you to try it out and see how impactful it can be for you. I'll give you your first month for only $10. Just email me, karli@flipsideofmidlife.com to get a promo code that saves you $15 on your first month.
Thank you for spending this time with me today, my friend. Tap into your creative self and create your vision board for 2025.
As always, I'm here cheering you on as you travel through midlife and beyond. I'll be back next Wednesday with another episode of FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®. I can't wait to meet you here again.
