Happy New Year to you, my friend. 2025. Here we are.

It just so happens that it's not only the first day of a new year. This is also my 100th episode of FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®. I'm so happy you can be here today to celebrate this milestone with me and to give yourself the gift of walking into a new year slowly and thoughtfully.

{MUSIC INTRO}

A new year feels like such a fresh start, doesn't it? Rather than running straight ahead, I encourage you to live in that fresh start feeling for a little bit.

Running into January can be a recipe for disaster, and I'm guessing that's not what you're going for this year. There's no pressure. This is your time. Wrap up your reflections on 2024, feel into your intentions, and allow your vision for 2025 to crystallize. Take it slowly. Take it thoughtfully. Imagine the possibilities the year may hold and as you're doing this work, notice how you feel.

Do you feel tight or restricted or small in your body? Perhaps you are judging what you are thinking, judging your vision, or maybe you're placing too many reality filters on yourself. Give yourself permission to dream bigger, to think bigger.

Keep in mind that saying about ‘shooting for the stars and landing on the moon’.

Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious? Perhaps you're on the other side of the spectrum, and you're thinking too big. When you feel this way, it's a sign to reign it in. Try thinking in a shorter time frame, rather than the whole 12 months. Can you think about the first half or maybe the first quarter of 2025?

If that still feels too big, then what does feel good to you? Is it a month? Is it a week? That's okay. 

If you're feeling inspired and expansive, you're in the zone, my friend. This is the sweet spot to be in as you think about your year ahead, regardless of the time frame you're thinking about. 

When you intentionally slow down to move into the new year with purpose, you are practicing self-

compassion. And it's a gift to yourself to start the year by seeing your hopes and dreams rather than just rushing back into your busy schedule. 

Create space for yourself in January to think through these things, to allow yourself to dream and hope and visualize what the possibilities are for you in 2025.

When you do you have a better understanding of where you are, where you're starting the year at, and the path you want to step onto as you travel through the next 12 months.

It's a new year, my friend. Slow down. Be thoughtful. Be mindful of the areas of your life that you want to tend to this year and be gentle and caring with yourself.
