FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® with Karli Newman
Hi there! I'm Karli Newman, and this is my podcast, FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®.
In my mid-40s, my positive mindset was tested. I felt life was passing me by. I was restless in my career even though I loved my job, and exhausted after years of ignoring my self-care. PLUS the hormonal shifts of perimenopause were affecting me in ways I didn't know or understand.
Externally I maintained a positive attitude. Internally I struggled with changing my life’s direction. I didn't talk about it and it took me years to work through it.
Over time I took some big leaps, including a move back to Arizona. I created a new approach to my life and maximized my innate positivity. That’s how I ended up here - helping women like you tap into your positive mindset and inner expertise to see and seize the possibilities around you. I don’t want you to do this alone!
I’m a certified coach focused on whole-life wellness. I know from personal experience what a transformational time of life this is and how challenging it feels sometimes! I’m here to help you navigate obstacles, uncover how to move forward, and continue your unique journey of personal growth and self-discovery.
I intentionally create short episodes that fit into your busy life and get you thinking about your well-being. I cover topics that the women in this community care about (that's you BTW!).
Wherever you are in midlife and beyond, there’s space here to honor who you’ve been, love who you are, and be excited about who you are becoming.
This is the FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE® and it's a glorious place to be!
Go ahead...binge all of my episodes. xo Karli

FLIPSIDE OF MIDLIFE®: YOUR YEAR IN PHOTOS
Hi there, it's me, Karli.
I know this is a busy month, my friend. There's not a better time to practice intentionally prioritizing you. Rather than treating your well-being like another thing on your to-do list, know that it's something on your to-be list.
{MUSIC INTRO}
As the year winds down, pay attention to your year-end practice. December is a golden time to reflect on your year with compassion rather than criticism. I invite you to listen to each of my episodes this month for simple yet meaningful ways to reflect gently.
If you're anything like me, your photos are more than snapshots. They're little time capsules of moments that mattered. I rarely go back in my photo timeline throughout the year, so a slow review of the past 12 months using my photo roll is an impactful way to look back.
Grab your journal, notebook, or favorite app, my friend. Coming up are two prompts you can use along with your year's photos to reflect.
TIME MARKER 01:07
Okay, here are the two prompts. First, what patterns do you notice in your photos?
And second, what sparks joy for you months later as you review your photos?
Have these prompts in the back of your mind as you review your photos. Start with your first photos of 2024, yes, go all the way back to January, my friend. Then slowly move forward to the most recent. You may choose to do this over time, you know, maybe instead of mindlessly scrolling on social media, or choose to do it in one sitting. Whatever works best for you. However you do it, take notes as you go.
What feelings come up as you scroll? Do you suddenly realize you gravitate toward a certain item? Did you completely forget about some of the small happy moments? Jot all of those little notes down, my friend. And when you've made it through your year of photos, use your notes to answer the prompts.
Why do this? Why do it in that order? Well, my friend, it allows you to uncover insights that can help you live more fully in 2025.
What light bulbs went off after reviewing your photos and answering the prompts? How might those learnings help you prioritize differently or seize more moments in 2025?
Those patterns you noticed? You now have an awareness of what you're drawn to. You also have an awareness of what you're not drawn to.
The joy you feel months later? This cues you into the people, places, and things that make you feel really, really good.
Now you can use that knowledge to foster more of it in the coming year.
Reflecting with your photos is a meaningful and gentle way to look back, especially in this busy season. It reminds you of the joy you've experienced and the priorities that anchor you.
And it gives you solid self-understanding to live more fully in 2025.
In midlife and beyond, you crave a full life now, not later. Year-end reflection done compassionately gives you what you need to create that full life in 2025. You deserve it, my friend.
As always, I'm here cheering you on as you travel through midlife and beyond.
I love to hear your thoughts and experiences, so send them to me at karli@flipsideofmidlife.com.
